EARLY
3's: ANALYZERS |
|
|
The Analyzers program at the
Brilliance Preschool & Academy is
designed for children that are 3
years old and preparing to enter
Pre-Kindergarten. This is an
important phase in your child’s
development as they are beginning to
learn the basic skills that will be
required in the future. Although
these classes can be fun for the
children, you can be sure that our
program is designed to encourage
students to learn during every
minute of the day. One of the most
important aspects of our program is
the realization that early childhood
development, particularly at the age
of 3, is one of the most crucial
periods in any developing child’s
life.
The typical 3 year old is eager to
explore their world in even further
ways than before. At this age, many
children begin to observe much more
of their environment and imitate
actions or emotions that they
experience. Children at this age
need a great deal of guidance from
both their parents and the teachers
that spend a great deal of time with
them. At Brilliance Preschool &
Academy, our program reflects this
need as well as giving children
plenty of opportunities to create
and enjoy new things and experiences
while continuing to grow and
develop.
In language skills, children begin
to learn how to listen more intently
to instructions and stories. At the
same time, we encourage the children
to ask questions about these
instructions and look for reasoning
behind the stories that they have
heard. They also begin basic
vocabulary development through
imitation and begin to enjoy and
understand the words that they hear
during story time much easier. At
the completion of the 3s program, we
aim to increase the ability for your
child to speak in complete sentences
consisting of 3-5 words. In
addition, we build upon your child’s
ability to speak clearly up to 80%
of the time.
In our introductory math program,
children are taught to count objects
and identify simple numbers. In
addition, they are introduced to
basic shapes and taught how to
identify and distinguish between
each one. We also begin to teach
children how to arrange objects and
shapes in order of their size. At
this point in development, your
child is ready to learn the
rudimentary aspects of the calendar.
Your child’s first introduction to
numbers will also be during this
stage as they learn to count up to
the number 10 by rote.
One of the most important aspects of
this phase of development is the
refinement of social skills that
will be crucial to their
interactions with others as they
progress in our program. Your child
will learn the basics of personal
hygiene and self control as well as
developing the skills necessary to
interact successfully and
courteously with other students by
taking turns, following the rules
and using proper manners.
Each day that a student spends in
this program is designed to be a
soothing and relaxing transition
from any environment into our own.
The typical day begins with gentle
activities that are designed to make
the child comfortable before moving
on to circle reading or some other
form of group activity. This
activity can easily transition into
a quiet sharing time when children
can share stories and other ideas
for their peers to hear and
interpret. By structuring each day
in this manner, each child begins to
understand how to act and interact
around their peers and the process
of group learning has already begun.
The majority of our class times
revolve around choice. The child is
given choices of activities in which
they would like to participate and
they form groups to participate in
their chosen activities. By doing
this, children are given the
opportunity to grow by performing
the tasks and objectives that they
deem important. In this way,
friendships and respectful
relationships can easily begin to
form between children working in
small groups. As the students become
more and more comfortable with these
environments and activities, new
challenges and activities can be
added as well as beginning to mix up
age groups to let each child
experience an evolving environment
of diversity and respect. |
